    “In the Works” will take the viewer from the concept for a painting to drawings to the finished painting.

    William Young paints full-time at his studio in the Piney Woods of East Texas near Palestine. His formal art training included drawing and printmaking courses at the University of Dallas, East Texas State University, and Stephen E. Austin State University. Young also studied painting with Ancel E. Nunn and helped in the printing of several of Nunn’s stone-pulled lithographs.
   
Young’s first art show at nineteen was the “Temple Emanu-el Art Festival in 1976 where his etching “ The Last Letter” was judged best-in-show by a panel of judges that included Harry Parker, then the Director of the Dallas Museum of Art. Since then, Young has pursued both a fine art and commercial art career. His paintings, etchings, and drawings are included in many private collections. In 2010 Young was a finalist in the2010 Hunting Art Prize Exhibition. He has exhibited in Museums, Art Festivals and Galleries in Texas and is represented by William Reaves Fine Art Gallery in Houston, Texas.
 
  He has been honored among thirty artists in 100 years at William Reaves Fine Art, Houston, 2009; as one of Texas Five, Cherry Spring Art Festival, 2007, David Dike Fine Art, Dallas, 2006 and 2007, and The Museum of East Texas Culture, Palestine,  in 2007 plus many galleries and museums.
   
When Young is not painting he enjoys walking his dogs, writing stories, or riding his Harley with his wife Kathryn.
