Artist Opportunity – Call to Entry – Green Artworks for Exhibit at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Austin

Green Artworks sought
for exhibit at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is seeking artwork for loan to an upcoming exhibit titled,  Green Art in Austin.  Artwork selected shall use a media primarily of recycled materials or utilize means and techniques utilizing energy saving methods. Artwork should be three dimensional in nature and  may incorporate visual themes symbolizing  eco-friendly living.  All entries must be submitted no later than August 15 , 2010.   Artists will be informed if their works are selected for display shortly thereafter.  Please send a self addressed stamped envelope if you want any submission material returned.
Artwork must be appropriate for a general audience of air travelers to view and also fit into airport concourse display cases with an interior case dimension measuring 14” wide x 16” deep and  48” tall.  Maximum weight of each piece shall not exceed 30 lbs.
The term of the artwork exhibition is scheduled to run from October 28, 2010 through January 28, 2011.  There is no financial compensation to the artist or artwork team for the artwork displayed in the exhibit.  However,  the artwork will be on view in an airport currently serving 23,000 passengers daily.  The airport concourse display cases are located in the area of the airport past security checkpoints accessible to ticketed passengers only.
Artwork selected to display in the Green Art in Austin exhibit will be fully insured from loss and casualty during the period it is on loan to the airport.  Selected Artists or their agent will work closely with the airport exhibit coordinator to arrange safe and smooth installation of the artwork in the exhibit cases.  Artists or their agents  shall be responsible for delivering the artwork to the airport and picking it up at the end of the display term.  All graphic placards with contact information, artists statement and other didactic information shall be the responsibility of the Airport to produce.  Artists or artwork teams may consider as many as four individual pieces to display.
Artists interested in loaning their “green art” to the airport for display may submit an e-mail or a CDROM with a brief note of interest and description of the artwork or process along with no more than two JPEG images of each piece measuring 1024 x 1024  pixels.
