When a group of artists began hashing gallery politics and the limitations often presented by juried shows, the artists did what they do best. They stepped outside the lines. They reached outside the box, and they came up with an original idea. An idea to present an unfiltered art display, unlike any other exhibit you’ve experienced.
ArtHash Open Salon Show will not be curated, with expectations of presenting the public with an uninhibited view of what’s really happening in the Local art scene. This display will be unique in the sense that over 50 participating artists will display artwork of their own choosing. There will be nothing blocking the way for you to view fresh, innovative, raw talent. In this day and age where stars are formed by public opinion on venues like youtube, we believe the same applies for the art world. You decide!
Assuming you won’t miss the stuffy gallery scene this is your chance to see what the artists want you to see. All art will be reasonably priced, allowing the perfect opportunity for the seasoned collector, as well as the first time collector.

A selection of work will be exhibited at OFG from Monday, December 19th to Saturday, December 24th, while all submissions will be exhibited online through the gallery’s website (www.oliverfrancisgallery.com).
The gallery will operate as a retail space from 12 – 9PM (Monday through Friday) and 12 – 5PM (Saturday). All work online and at the gallery will be for sale. Credit cards and cash payments only. NO checks (Oliver is not 83 years old). Each participating artist will contribute a percentage of their sale toward UNICEF.
Working in over 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, protection, emergency relief, and more.
Works in the exhibition will include a video installation projecting video through motorized lenses by Alfredo Salazar-Caro, .gif animations by Desiree Espada and Kasumi Chow, lightning bolts by Michelle Rawlings, precious geometric sculptures by Ricardo Paniagua, plastic trash bag dwellings by Alison Starr, talking to finches via Morse code (a performance) by Jonathan Cote and Sloane, small assemblages (that USPS will not ship) by Robert Harrington, black erasers by JJesus, a non-beautiful painting that doesn’t suck dog dick by Michael Wynne, and plenty more.

Texas Author Donates to Dallas Schools Frisco, Texas – November 30, 2011
Frisco photographer Warren Paul Harris, in conjunction with the release of his first coffee table book, Texas As I See It, is donating part of the proceeds to benefit Dallas schools.
While it is no secret that Dallas Independent School District (DISD) is in dire financial straits, support for the Arts in Texas education has been especially lacking for many years. This was made abundantly clear when Mr. Harris' daughter began instructing at DISD as a music teacher in 2007. Her entire program, along with all other Arts programs were funded not by the State, but by a completely separate Grant.
Warren wanted the proceeds of his book to make a difference in education and the Arts. As a result, one dollar from the sale of every book is donated to Big Thought, a non-profit organization benefiting DISD.
Warren’s view of the Lone Star State is evocative, compelling and insightful. Capturing everyday vignettes from our surroundings and processing them to enhance texture, color and detail, much of his work seems more illustrative than simply photographic.
With a keen eye for composition, Harris brings us the mundane, as well as the unusual with compelling results. From the amusing to the poignant, his combinations of light and shadow, texture and relationships, evoke a visceral response in the viewer.
As a long-time contributor to many local papers and magazines, Warren has captured some amazing events included in this book. But Warren’s love for his adopted home comes from exploring the back roads and small towns of Texas on his Harley and by car, for no other reason than to see what he can discover. A Licensed Texas Investigator, his natural curiosity serves him well in ferreting out the unusual among Texas’ hidden treasures. His experience as an architect, designing and building recording studios for 20 years, gives him a unique appreciation for line, light and shadow – and copious examples punctuate this volume.
While Warren has been best known for his time-exposures taken from unusual locations in the middle of the night, this first volume of three books is entirely daylight-centric. “After creating the prototype for this book in 2009, having the time-exposure work next to my daylight images seemed in conflict” says Harris. “As a result of adding a lot of new material from my library, it seemed best to break up the work into three volumes, which keeps the production costs lower and allowed us to produce a higher quality product.”
Spanning 158 pages with 204 images, the book is hardbound with dust jacket and sells for $34.95.
Published by Brown Books in Dallas, Texas As I See It is endorsed by Ebby Halliday and Terry Box, the Sheriff of Collin County, among others.

16th Annual Blue Yule! Art the MAC in Dallas
'Tis the season for the Sixteenth Annual Blue Yule at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary! Come support your favorite blue gallery with our fabulous holiday fundraiser featuring original ornaments hand-crafted by artists and patrons. Dance to the rhythms of The Meadows World Music Ensemble! Get your shopping done early at our bountiful silent auction and enjoy beer, wine, food, a bake sale, coffee bar and our infamous Blue Mystery Punch!
Ornament artists will be awarded a $50 prize for their creativity in each of three categories; Most Festive, Most Divine and Most Outrageous. Honorary ornament judges are Susan Matusewicz, MAC Board President, Tina Parker, Director of Kitchen Dog Theater and Lisa Hees, MAC Director.
Festivities begin in the heart of Uptown at 5:30 and lasts until 7:30 on Saturday, December 3. Early birds will have the best choice of ornaments! Blue Yule supports The MAC by raising funds for 2012's artistic and educational programming.
ADMISSION: Admission to Blue Yule is $20.00 for the general public, $15.00 for MAC members and $10 for students and teachers. For the 16th consecutive year, The McKinney Avenue Contemporary celebrates the holiday season with one of the most unique fundraisers in Texas, The Blue Yule Artist's Party and Ornament Sale. Blue Yule is a fundraising event that keeps The MAC vibrant through these tough economic times. Join in the celebration by creating and contributing your most divine handmade ornament(s) to Dallas' most original holiday fundraiser.
This year's party is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd from 5:30 - 7:30pm. The evening will feature a tasty treats, the traditional Blue Yule mystery punch, music, a silent auction and an amazing assortment of hand made ornaments. Come mingle with fans and friends, and kick off the holidays while doing a good deed for your favorite art space.
We will also be featuring LIVE MUSIC by the Meadows World Music Ensemble! Hot drumming and imaginative improvisation are a hallmark of the Meadows World Music Ensemble. Directed by Jamal Mohamed, the group performs on a variety of exotic percussion instruments from Africa, Asia and the Middle East as well as traditional Western instruments such as violins, keyboards and guitars.
As a member of the Dallas art community, you know that Blue Yule is one of the major funding sources for The MAC and we have enjoyed generous participation from dedicated artists and friends both locally and nationally. We need YOUR help to continue the Blue Yule legacy! Drop off dates for the ornaments are November 28th -December 2nd noon to 6pm daily. Everyone donating an ornament receives a one-year Artist Level MAC membership.

| Dallas– Art lovers can get a head start on holiday shopping during the 2011 Winter Art Mart and Silent Auction, November 18-20, at the Bath House Cultural Center on White Rock Lake. In the Center's galleries, theater, and lake-level spaces, more than 60 fine artists will offer their photography, paintings, pottery, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and other creations. The Bath House Art Mart and silent auction benefit the Bath House Cultural Center's year-round visual and performing arts programs. Purchases benefit everyone: The lucky owner will take home one-of-a-kind artwork, while local artists and arts lovers will be able to continue enjoying the arts at the neighborhood cultural center on White Rock Lake. This year Art Mart goes Underground—a more informal, eclectic collection of arts vendors in the lower level of the Bath House. Crosby Cafe Catering will offer dinner al fresco, 6-7 PM, Friday, November 18, and will provide casual dining for the rest of the weekend. $4.8 Million Raised at 2011 TWO x TWO For AIDS and Art Dallas Texas
DALLAS (October 24, 2011) – On Saturday, October 22, the 13th annual TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art benefit dinner and contemporary art auction marked a record $4.8 million in art and luxury packages sold with funds benefiting amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, and the Dallas Museum of Art. With a few pieces left to sell on Sunday, the organizers are hopeful to reach $5 million.
Close to 475 people attended the sold-out black-tie event, co-chaired by Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey, Joyce Goss and Dr. Gary Tigges and hosted annually by Cindy and Howard Rachofsky at their Richard Meier-designed home, The Rachofsky House. Art co-chairs for the 2011 event were Janelle and Alden Pinnell.
“This record-breaking year is testament to the generous donations by artists and dealers worldwide,” said Howard Rachofsky. “The artwork by Mark Grotjahn and its $1 million selling price in the live auction took us over the top. Both Cindy and I are speechless. The audience and bidders continue to recognize the outstanding work of both these important institutions and put their hearts and money into this event.”
The Saturday evening event included cocktails and a silent auction, followed by dinner, and a live auction conducted by Jamie Niven, Chairman, Sotheby’s, North and South America. There were 121 works of art offered in the live and silent auctions this year. Artworks by 2011 amfAR honoree Mark Grotjahn as well as Kara Walker, Tony Cragg and Nigel Cooke among others were sold to the highest bidder. Grotjahn’s work went for $1 million, the highest bid on a single piece of art in TWO x TWO history.
Since its inception, TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art has raised more than $33 million in support of essential AIDS research at amfAR and for the Contemporary Art Acquisitions Fund at the Dallas Museum of Art. The annual black-tie gala, part of a week-long series of events, is the largest U.S. fundraiser for amfAR and the Dallas Museum of Art. The funds support amfAR’s AIDS research initiatives and the Dallas Museum of Art’s contemporary art acquisition program and exhibitions.
The fundraising total was announced this morning by TWO x TWO host Cindy Rachofsky at a private brunch hosted by Janelle and Alden Pinnell. The brunch event was sponsored by Flexjet and held at The Power Station, a not-for profit initiative dedicated to providing a platform for ambitious contemporary art projects in Dallas, TX sponsored by The Pinnell Foundation.
Dallas Museum of Art Hoffman Family Senior Curator of Contemporary Art Jeffery Grove and Cindy Rachofsky, an amfAR board member, addressed the group of invited guests along with Flexjet CEO Fred Reid and amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost. Frost then presented artist Mark Grotjahn with amfAR’s 2011 Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS.
In addition to the record-breaking live and silent auctions at Saturday night’s gala, the evening’s highlight was a special performance by superstar and Grammy Award winner Patti LaBelle.

The week-long festivities leading up to the TWO x TWO gala include a preview party for Dallas Museum of Art members on Tuesday, sponsored by Sotheby’s, and the First Look party on Thursday, this year featuring a performance piece by artist Rob Pruitt inviting guests to join him in picking up paintball guns and aiming them at a canvas that became one of the largest abstract paintings in history. The presenting Sponsor for First Look 2011 was Michele.
Over the years, previous VIP celebrity guests at TWO x TWO events have included Sharon Stone, Sigourney Weaver, Shirley MacLaine, Liza Minnelli, Barry Manilow, Natasha Richardson, Taylor Dayne, Dita Von Teese, Stanley Tucci, Harry Belafonte, Gavin Rossdale, and Christian Siriano.
