Art Below / Art Barter Collaboration in Berlin Art Below have just launched their latest public art campaign in the German capital of Berlin, this time in collaboration with the unique and revolutionary group Art Barter. Revolutionary, resourceful and truly avant-garde in spirit, Art Barter and Art Below have, in each other, found their perfect playmate. Art Barter boasts a fresh, engaging approach to the sometime elitist art world, proving that Art can be a resource that money cannot buy. On 24th June we kicked off with Art Barter’s exclusive Alexanderplatz launch party followed by Art Below’s 2 week long exhibition on 10 public pillars displaying Berlin’s hottest established and emerging artists, including Jonathan Monk, Jason Dodge and Uwe Henneken. Co-inciding beautifully with Berlin’s 6th Biennale for Contemporary Art, this summer promises to only further establish the city’s reputation as a creative melting pot. For further info about Art Barter see www.artbarter.co.uk Art Below / Hospital Club 'Open Kimono' competition winner announced.  Elosie Fornieles is the latest winner of the Art Below / Hospital Club Collaboration baed on the theme of 'Open Kimono'. v. phr. to expose or reveal secrets or proprietary information.  Eloise Fornieles is an Anglo-Argentine artist represented by Paradise Row gallery. After a BA in Fine Art at Kingston University, Fornieles graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2006 with an MFA in Fine Art Media. Her work engages with human interaction, intimacy and the relationship between beauty and violence, using photography and video as an extension of her work in performance and installation. For images, links and video clips see www.onshow.org.uk SHOOT NATIONS Our Shoot Nations project, celebrating it's 5th anniversary, is live this week - it's a photography project where we give young people (aged 11 to 25) a voice for expression on this year's global theme of CITY LIFE/urbanisation which are then presented to the highest form of government, the United Nations in a ceremony in New York in August. The project includes a photography competition element, exhibitions and workshops in seven global cities, including a two month long exhibition in the lobby of the United Nations secretariat building in New York for two months starting in August. The UK winner of the competition will receive an all expenses paid trip to New York to present winning and commended photos to the United Nations on International Youth Day, August 12. There are other prizes for global winners too! In particular, we are trying to encourage participation in the photography competition element at the moment which closes on 28 July - I must stress, it's a very inclusive project and is aimed at everybody, not just photographers, but especially photographers.. We are encouraging anyone and everyone to use photography as a tool for expression and communication. One of the most original and influential artists of his generation, Graham has constructed a complex and articulate practice which operates through systems of quotation, reference, adaptation and inscription from other works or authors. Here the artist draws from sources as diverse as structural film, Mallarmé's poetry, British zombie movies, and 19th century French military painting to create a kaleidoscopic exhibition combining works in photography, film and painting. Double Act Repeated is a collaborative project comprised of four films, an opening-night performance and a series of new works created specifically for the exhibition. As artists Monk and Gordon share an interest in exploring the creative act as an intuitive process rooted in the history of Conceptual Art. As friends they share a passion for found images, football, word-play and the belief that the best ideas are generated around the dining table. About the artists: Jonathan Monk (1969, Leicester) and Douglas Gordon (1966, Glasgow) met for the first time in 1990 when both were studying fine art in Glasgow. There first meeting either took place at back-stage at a Miles Davis concert or while watching England lose to Germany on penalties. The films formed the basis of an exhibition at the Fondazione Morra Greco in Naples in 2009 and are presented in London for the first time.
