Sunny Jacquet Artist Statement: Sunny Jacquet was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the U.S. in 1986 to pursue her passion for art. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Fine Art at TWU, in Denton, Texas. Sunny has received numerous awards and grants, including being named one of DMagazine’s “New Dallas Nine,” in 2009. She began successfully showing at Norwood Flynn Gallery in November 2009. Sunny’s approach to painting is simple: “a successful piece of art is one that allows viewers to peek into (her) world of imagination and artistic aspirations. My artworks combine trompe l’oiel and classical painting techniques with surreal settings…to express messages of revitalization and aspiration.”
“Everything we see hides another thing; we always want to see
what is hidden by what we see.”
Rene’ Magritte

Sallie McIlheran Artist Statement:

Sallie McIlheran’s artwork shows a precision of line and detail as well as careful consideration of color. Her recent works display an emphasis on motion, tonality and a thematic interest in transition and movement of light.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Sallie, after obtaining an undergraduate degree from Sweet Briar College in Virgiinia, made formal studies in Europe, obtaining her Masters of Fine Art in 1994, at the University of Vienna, Austria. There she was able to study in the Master Class of Prof. Wofgang Hutter, one of the leading members of the Austrian Movement Fantastic Realism. She has exhibited in Germany, Austria, Marfa, Texas and in Dallas, at the Norwood Flynn Gallery, her US representative. Her works are held in collections, among others: Historical Museum of Freising, Germany; KulturFond Sparkasse; Giesecke and Devrient; and Quebec Canada as well as collections in Europe and the US.

Sallie lives in Freising, Germany and works in both Freising and Texas. We are excited to welcome Sallie back to Dallas for this show.
