Artist Interview Dan Schwartz


What is your name: Dan Schwartz

Do you have a formal art education or are you a self taught artist: self-realized

What is the style of your pieces: abstract expressionism

What is the medium in which you work: depends on what i'm working on, of course..

What started you on your path as an artist: birth?

What is one of the most important things that art has brought to your life: freedom. and an outlet for expression.

What is your favorite genre of art besides the one you work in: jazz

Do you have art showings, and if so what are they typically like: sure, sometimes they're fun

Do you have a certain set of clothes you make art in: most of my clothes have been involved

What has been the most frustrating part of being an artist? so much mediocre art is so over appreciated, and some really great art goes so under appreciated.

What is your favorite sandwich of all time: i'm from philly, has be the cheesesteak

Has this year brought about any changes in your work, and if so what are they: always, every year does. it's a continuous progression

Who is your favorite artist alive or dead: a 4-way tie: bob marley, fela kuti, ben frankin and my great grandmother, rose cohen.

What is the most moving piece of artwork that you have seen in person: the one that i'm coming up with next

Do you have any animals, and what do they think of your work: fish, african cichlids. i'm trying to come up with color combinations that are as stunning as they are.

Do you have any upcoming exhibitions you would like to share with us: not at the moment, unless you have something in mind.
