Artist Interview: Haeleigh Hayes



What is your name: Haeleigh Hayes

Do you have a formal art education or are you a self taught artist: Self taught artist with a year of AP art in high school

What is the style of your pieces: varied

What is the medium in which you work: Acrylic paint, Conte, pencil, graphite, water color, colored pencil, oil pastel, and dry pastel

What started you on your path as an artist: I began drawing when i was in 2nd grade and have loved it ever since.

What is one of the most important things that art has brought to your life: An escape from the world around me when things become stressful.

What is your favorite genre of art besides the one you work in: Photography

Do you have art showings, and if so what are they typically like: My art has only been shown by my school in malls.

Do you have a certain set of clothes you make art in: no I do not.

What has been the most frustrating part of being an artist? starting a painting and not finishing it, then coming back to it at a later time in a different mood. Depending on my mood the style and technique changes.

What is your favorite sandwich of all time: chicken

Has this year brought about any changes in your work, and if so what are they:  more variety and expression through abstraction

Who is your favorite artist alive or dead: Bev Doolittle

What is the most moving piece of artwork that you have seen in person: Any Work done by Adam Rhodes is moving and intriguing.

Do you have any animals, and what do they think of your work: I have a Min Pin and he likes to watch me draw or try to sleep on my sketchbook while i am sketching.

Do you have any upcoming exhibitions you would like to share with us: at the moment no.
