Open Call for a Santa Barbara Home!

The Home Show, Revisited 2011

The Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum (CAF) is seeking a Santa Barbara homeowner interested in collaborating with artist Piero Golia for a major 8-week exhibition opening in March 2011. The exhibition The Home Show, Revisited will comprise 10 recognized Los Angeles-based artists creating new site-specific art in 10 private residences. The public exhibition will focus on the societal and cultural interpretations of “home” in sites from Goleta to Carpinteria.

**All homes have been secured except for one: CAF is currently looking for a home with a pool installation or renovation planned for Spring 2011, for a participating artist whose proposal includes a pool design.**

About the Artist:
Born in 1974 in Naples, Italy, Piero Golia currently lives and works in Los Angeles. Golia utilizes himself as a medium in his works, presents himself as a conceptual artist. Through story-telling, Golia's ultimate aim is to enter history and become a legend as his stories are disseminated. Golia's feats have included rowing across the Adriatic Sea, indelibly tattooing his portrait onto a girl? back, and displacing the facade of a museum. Golia lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He was recently included in SITE, Santa Fe 2008 and Moscow’s Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2007. His work has been shown in major galleries in Europe and United States and featured in numerous exhibitions including Gold Standards at P.S.1, New York in 2006 and Uncertain States of America – American Art in the 3rd Millennium at the Serpentine Gallery, London and Bard College, New York in 2005. In 2005 he opened the Mountain School of Arts together with Eric Wesley.

Disclosure: Sites selected for The Home Show, Revisited exhibition will be open to the public for 8 weekends, from March 5 to May 1, 2011, Friday & Saturday 11-5 and Sunday 12-5. Gallery Attendants will open and close the homes and be present during open hours. Homeowners do not have to be present during open exhibition hours. Homes will also be required to be available during installation and de-installation (these dates are extended one to three weeks beyond the actual exhibition dates). Property owner for this installation will be responsible for costs related to install of the pool and art design.
