Portfolio Review Week at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Art Forum and other News

Artists, schedule a time to have your artwork reviewed!  CAF offers a one-on-one 20-minute review with our Executive Director, Miki Garcia, to discuss your work, refine your portfolio, and bring your career to the next level!  Please bring an artist's statement, bio/resume, and images in CD/DVD/Zip Drive formatted to be viewed on a Mac Computer or on your own laptop. This informative seminar helps artists with issues regarding their career. Forum Lounge: Barney Haynes and Jennifer Parker, sonicSENSE

Haynes and Parker  will use live internet data to track light, sound, and air pollution and combine it with video projection, sub-sonic transducers,  speaker film, web cams, biometric readers, and performance to create a full-sensory sound art installation.  In addition, the audience may walk through sonicSENSE’s vibrating and mirror-like Mylar Corridor to experience visual and sound bending distortions.

Friday, October 08, 2010 5 pm Call For Entries 2011 deadline
Call For Entries (CFE) is an annual juried exhibition that encourages artists from the local community to produce newly commissioned work. CFE is open to visual artists currently living and/or working in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Three to six individuals will be selected by a panel of jurors made up of artists and art professionals to exhibit new work in a group exhibition held at CAF in 2011. This year’s panel includes: Stephanie Dotson, Artist and Assistant Printmaking Professor at Santa Barbara City College, Santa Barbara, CA; Rachel Gugelberger, Independent Curator, New York, NY; Annie Wharton, Curator/Writer and Gallery Director at The Company, Los Angeles, CA. All submittals are individually evaluated based on the artistic and creative strength of the recent (last five years) work.
