ARTS DISTRICT SUITE UNVEILED AT THE FAIRMONT DALLAS

Dallas - August 31, 2011 - District, a creative neighborhood host to world-renouned museums and performance halls located in the heart of downtown Dallas. And to Bryan Embry, Owner and Director of the Ross-Akard Gallery inside the Fairmont, it only  made sense to tackle a redesign of the hotels' famous Arts District Suite. Bryan approached the hotel with a vision to spotlight the immense creative talents that Dallas has to offer. Bryan brought in artist and designer, Nicole Cullum Horn of Modern Relics to collaborate on the redesign of the suite. The Fairmont Dallas stands alone as the only premier hotel in the Artse. "In designing the Arts District Suite, our goal was to capture the essence of the city and the spirit of the Dallas art scene," said Bryan Embry, owner of the Ross Akard Gallery. "We wanted to create a space that reflects the vision and diverse range of talent that we see in the arts district today ."  "It was critical to us to bring in the feeling of home and luxury for our guests. We wanted them to feel like they stepped off the plane and into a friends home; better yet a friends home with an amazing art collection and keen eye for design." -Nicole Cullum Horn   Every piece in the suite was designed and made by Dallas artists.  Drawing from both the Fairmont's Artist in Residency program, (founded by Embry which hosts regional and national artists who reside in the hotel to work in an onsite studio for a three-month period) and hand-selected creative professionals, each piece has it's own story steeped in Dallas culture. The unique décor of the Arts District Suite pairs modern elegance with rare vintage treasures, including a 1930s-era sofa, and  repurposed red oak hardwood floors. Special pieces by former Artists-in-Residence include a custom headboard and coffee table by Sean Springer, a metal installation by George Fowler, as well as work from MK and Hugo and Zach Saucedo. The suite also features works by Erik Glissmann of Measured Improvements, Gary Buckner of Stash Design, Julie McCullough Kim of Make & Made and IndieGenius, and Erica Felicella of Erica Felicella Photography. The collection of art in the suite will be changed twice a year in order to accommodate new pieces from future artists who participate in the Artist-in-Residence program, including current artist Hobbes Vincent.   Guests who reserve the Arts District Suite are invited to peruse a special commemorative book detailing the history of the suite's featured artists, artwork and furniture.
