I'm going to tell you a story, one of a chick, who just happens to be me. The point of this exercise is not only to document, but to share a story that might help others. I have been sick as long as I can remember. Sick as in I feel like shit all the time. My labs are all pretty normal and if anything is out of range, its mainly just borderline (read non conclusive for anything). This has been going on for YEARS! I have had the mercury removed from my teeth, I have eaten all organic, I have gone vegan, eaten all protein. I have changed all products that have unnatural substances in them-- ie, shampoos, deodorant, toothpaste, lotion. You name it, I have probably tried it.
My symptoms range from weird to downright strange. Anything, and I mean anything that touches my skin makes whelps. This is especially true if it is paper or wood, I have concluded all must have chemicals in them. I have crops of tiny pinhead acne that comes and goes on my chin frequently. I have bilateral burning and itching in my extremities, fatigue, sometimes blurred vision, dizziness, frequent headaches, cold hands and feet, low body temperature, chronically dry splotches on my shins, intolerance to alcohol (this never stops me from having a drink), two day hangovers, and the worst of worst-- post exertional malaise. This means that now every time I exercise I get sick. I have always been an active person, I love running, biking, tennis, walking and generally anything outdoors. This has been all but shut down now. I do yoga and that's it. And let me tell you I'm pissed! This is no way to be!
I got a rash bringing home my juicer even-- from the box touching my arm.
I had some friends in town a few weekends ago and they mentioned this show about a guy that had been juicing. I didn't think to much of it, but while flipping through movies last night, it caught my attention. I remembered hearing about it and so I watched the trailer. This was that movie my friends had told me about--- I watched. I watched some more, and more and more. Holy moly, this dude was me. He didn't have the same thing I did, I wasn't obese, but we were the same-- we were both sick.
If you have not seen it already you must watch
Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. This film is good for everyone to see, but if you have a chronic illness it is a MUST! Rent it now on your on demand movies. It is under new releases.

That was all it took for me. To see Joe Cross's story and the story of the truck driver was all I needed. I went and bought a juicer. I'm going on a juice fast to reboot my system.
The Breville juicer from the film was sold out everywhere so I bought a Jack Lelanne. Don't you freaking love Jack Lelanne? I do!
I then went and bought a ton of organic fruits and veggies. I got home and my damn juicer was broken. I trekked back to the store and bought a Cuisinart juicer--- I could have ordered the Breville, but I was ready already.
So here we go with the juicer. Rule A number one: Don't let your husband near the juicer unless you want to clean your kitchen for an hour.
Here is a recipe for the slightly hot green drink I made. It was really pretty darn tasty.
Again I used all organics
1 bunch of kale
1 lemon pealed
1 pear
4 stalks of celery
2 tomatoes
2 green onion stalks
3 large carrots
1 hatch green pepper (this gives a big kick- reduce or omit if you want)
1/2 a teaspoon of garlic
a dash of sea salt
This green drink was good, and Erick says he is full.
I am going to keep you updated on progress in the hopes that these posts can help someone.
