Call to Artists Art in Public Places Austin Texas



The City of Austin’s Art in Public Places program has released a new Call to Artists for artists living or working in Texas (complete details can be found on the AIPP website), for the Asian American Resource Center.  
Please come to the Artist Information Meeting on Thursday, August 11, at 6 pm at Cultural Arts Division offices, 201 E. Second Street, Austin, TX. Park in the Austin Convention Center garage at Second and Brazos and we will validate your parking.  Map Attached.
Budget: $ 72,000 inclusive of design, fabrication and installation. 
Deadline: Submit your qualifications by 9/12 at 5 p.m.
Partial Description: The City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Growth & Redevelopment Services Office seeks to commission a professional visual artist /artist team to design, fabricate and install an exterior work of art that will contribute to the new Asian American Resource Center, being constructed at the intersection of Cameron Road and U.S. Highway 183. The goal of the public art is to showcase a work of contemporary public art that honors the cultural heritage and traditional values of Austin’s highly diverse Asian American community. The commissioned piece should engage site users in celebrating the diverse Asian cultures living in Austin. See RFQ for full project description.
