Call to Artists Art in Public Places Austin Texas


The City of Austin’s Art in Public Places program has released three new Calls to Artists for artists living or working in Texas (complete details on all three can be found on the AIPP website), focused on municipal pool sites. 

Barton Springs Pool Budget: $ 26,500 inclusive of design, fabrication and installation.
Partial description: "City of Austin (...) seeks to commission a professional visual artist to create works of art to serve as seating strategies for the Barton Springs Pool Grounds Improvements Art in Public Places project. The intent for the public art is to showcase works of contemporary public art that complement the use of the site and appeals to visitors of all ages." See RFQ for full project description.

Bartholomew Municipal Pool Budget: $36,000 for design only.
Partial Description: "City of Austin (...) seeks to commission a professional visual artist or designer to design works of art to serve as shade structures for the Bartholomew Pool Art in Public Places project. The intent for the public art is to showcase a work of contemporary public art that is integrated into the overall site design, compliments the design and use of the site, and serves as functional shade structures." West Enfield Pool Budget: $ 17,500 inclusive of design, fabrication and installation.
Partial description: "City of Austin (...) seeks to commission a professional visual artist or designer to create works of art to serve as bicycle racks for the West Enfield Pool Art in Public Places project. The intent for the public art is to showcase a work of contemporary public art that compliments the design and use of the site and serves as functional bicycle racks."
