Art as Energy, Energy as Art - Public Art Project

Calgary Science Centre and Creative Kids Museum Society (operating as TELUS World of Science-calgary) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified artists or artist teams who are passionate about exploring the link between art and science in a dynamic, new, ground-breaking science centre ­ the first purpose-built science centre in Canada in decades.

The Calgary Science Centre and Creative Kids Museum Society is able to provide the opportunity for an artist to create a site-specific work of art to be housed within the expansive Atrium area.  The artist selected for this project will have experience in creating dynamic, inspirational, and ideally interactive or kinetic art for public spaces. The unique opportunity is to create a landmark piece that combines art and science engaging millions of visitors, inspiring generations of youngsters and setting the stage for every visit to the new science centre.

An all-inclusive budget of $180,000 Canadian has been allocated for the selected artist to engage in this unique opportunity.
