(The Bath House will be closed from December 24 to January 3)

Opening Reception:
Saturday, December 4, 2010 (7-9 PM). Free and open to the public.

The unifying element behind the selection of the sculptures included in this exhibition by Jerry Dodd is the common idea of tools as aesthetic as well as functional objects. In virtually all of the exhibited welded and painted steel pieces, the artist has introduced a common tool or utilitarian object into the context of the sculpture as an integral form. The addition of color assists in the assimilation of all the components into a continuous whole. This theme has been an ongoing theme in Mr. Dodd’s sculpture for many years.
Jerry Dodd’s experience with the arts includes his position for almost thirty years as Professor in the Department of Art at Texas A&M University-Commerce. In addition to teaching art, Mr. Dodd has exhibited in numerous art venues, including among others the Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University, Haley-Henman Gallery, the Ellen Noel Museum in Odessa, and the HCG Gallery. He has also conducted and participated in several workshops and symposia and has created site-specific outdoor sculpture installations. Mr. Dodd is a member of the International Sculpture Center and the Texas Sculpture Association.
