"Fuck You All" 941Geary San Francisco California

Justin Giarla, White Walls, and The Shooting Gallery welcome you to join us for Glen E. Friedman's, "Fuck You All", at 941GEARY. "Fuck You All" will show the international traveling collection of photographs that span the prolific and influential career of artist, Glen E. Friedman. Now in its 13th year, this exhibition makes its way to San Francisco for the first time, bringing with it the work that presented some of the world’s most significant photographic contributions to the punk and hip hop subcultures and not only documented the genesis of skate culture, but helped shape it for generations to come. Friedman’s 941Geary exhibition of "Fuck You All" will feature several never before seen collaborations with Shepard Fairey, which will be displayed along with the original photographs for the first time. These works are true artistic collaborations, executed symbiotically and inspired from a history of mutual respect between Friedman and Fairey.

Glen E. Friedman is the most significant photographer of his generation. His images of the early Dogtown skateboarders in the late 1970s along with the burgeoning hip-hop and punk rock scenes of the 80s and 90s have made him one of the most important photographers today. With the uncanny ability to capture images of people whose subculture was about to change the world, his subjects range from Jay Adams and Tony Alva to Run DMC, Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys to Minor Threat and Black Flag, among many others. Over the years, Friedman has been able to define the moments of the movements that defined an era. This has cemented his place in history as an uncompromising, extremely gifted artist. Friedman has had books of his work published including Fuck You Heroes, Fuck You Too, The Idealist, Dogtown- The Legend of Z-Boys (with mentor C.R. Stecyk III- it was inspiration to the award winning documentary film Dogtown and Z-Boy that Friedman co-produced); all of which are in multiple editions and pressings. His most recently published books include Recognize and Keep Your Eyes Open  Show Runs Through December 31st 2010

941Geary is a pioneer exhibition space dedicated to artists and projects of cultural distinction currently contributing to the landscape of contemporary art. The 3,000 square foot converted warehouse aims to provide artists with a platform for transforming their vision; offering viewers a heightened experience of their work.

Founded by Justin Giarla in 2010, 941Geary continues the intentions shared with its sister galleries; White Walls, The Shooting Gallery and Gallery Three. Under Giarla's curatorial direction the spaces foster the recognition of emerging artists, further exposure of established artists, build a community of enthusiasts and accentuate San Francisco as one of the most important cities in which to fine the highly collected genres of Pop Surrealism, Lowbrow, and Urban Contemporary Art.

*941GEARY is located at 941 Geary Street in San Francisco, California with an alternative entrance at 60 Myrtle Alley
