International Call to Artists, Architects + Designers

The 2nd annual BECA Foundation non-juried, open-registration, international exhibition of art + design – registration is open until allocated spaces are full.

The purpose of this non-juried experimental, group exhibition is to further broaden exhibition opportunities and to discover and highlight new approaches by emerging contemporary artists, architects + designers as well as those who are more established but are stretching their work into unfamiliar territory.  This exhibition provides an open opportunity in which to experiment freely without judgement. Registration is limited but guarantees exhibition. Works will be displayed salon style in a mosaic grid covering the interior of the exhibition space.
------------------------------
Modeled after The BECA Foundation’s first non-juried, experimental open exhibition, held in June 2009, titled ‘12x12x122’, this Lab AD call to artists, architects + designers had originally been issued just before The BECA Foundation made its decision to relocate its offices to Albuquerque and was thus postponed temporarily. ‘12x12x122’ was one of BECA’s most successful exhibitions in terms of diversity of work and also the number of people from various geographic locations who attended the 3 week exhibition.  The BECA Foundation is pleased to now re-issue this Lab AD Call to Artists, Architects + Designers.

This Call to Artists, Architects + Designers guarantees exhibition of their work to those who are registered with registration being available on a first come, first served basis. Our current exhibition space is smaller than where last year's exhibition was held so registration is a bit more limited. The Call will remain open only until allocated spaces are full. For Lab AD, we have made an effort to broaden the variety of acceptable works, including 2D, 3D and video works. You may register now to secure your exhibition space for either pre-existing work or for new work created after you register, as long as your work is delivered by March 19, 2011.

All registered artists, architects + designers will have their works exhibited from April 1 – 23, 2011 with an opening reception held on April 1, 2011 from 5 – 8pm during Albuquerque’s First Friday ArtsCrawl at New Studio A.D. located at 312 Rosemont Ave NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico. There will be 20 artists, architects and/or designers selected from those exhibiting to have their works featured online at www.BECAICAD.org. Works are not required to conform to any particular medium, style, theme or concept.  You may view past BECA exhibitions at http://www.becaicad.org/exhibitions.php , http://www.CurateThis.org and http://www.BECAgallery.com

As long as space remains available, those at least 18 years of age from any country are eligible to register to exhibit their work according to the guidelines below. All exhibited works must be made available for the duration of the exhibition. (Works may be for sale but are not required to be for sale.)  Please note that we have allocated a number of categories along with their corresponding registration fees. Space is limited. Once a category is full, the registration for that category will automatically close.

('Lab AD' is the last exhibition opportunity before BECA halts exhibitions temporarily in order to focus all energies toward its capital fundraising campaign to build its new exhibition facility, BECA ICAD. The facility will be the world's first year-round, large scale (50,000 sq ft) facility dedicated to the exhibition of new works by BOTH emerging artists AND emerging designers!)
