Texas artist Paul Jones joins the TJC art faculty as its newest
full-time professor.  Mr. Jones was hired in the Fall of 2010 after the
retirement of long time art faculty member C.J. Cavanaugh.  Jones is
teaching Drawing I & II courses as well as several sections of Art
Appreciation (both online and in-class).  Paul Jones was previously
employed as a professor of art at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins
(2002 - 2010) and taught concurrently as an adjunct instructor at Tyler
Junior College.

Paul works primarily as a painter creating engaging, fun and bizarre
art.  His outlandish imagery connects to viewers through an enchantment
similar to a comic and curious story being recounted by an endearing
aged uncle or possibly Kurt Vonnegut.  Paul Jones has exhibited in
numerous exhibitions throughout his career including The Paul Jones Show
at Mary Hardin Baylor, Belton Texas 2009 and 2001’s The Two Best
Artists in the Country exhibition (with John Hitt) at The Art Corridor,
Tarrant County College Southeast Campus, Arlington, Texas.  Jones is a
product and supporter of the community college system having earned an
Associate’s degree in art from Cedar Valley College, Lancaster, Texas.
It was here Paul became inspired to pursue art and credits his art
professor Randy Brodnax as the inspiration.   He earned his Bachelor of
Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and his Master of
Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas, Denton.

A natural and entertaining storyteller, Paul brings a quick and
captivating form to his characters, colors and process allowing viewers
to complete the narrative of these tall tales or become hypnotized by
his layers of paint and perceived control of random accidents.  These
are images you won’t soon forget.

Please plan to attend our artist talk and reception Thursday November
18, 2010 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. in the TJC Wise Auditorium Art Gallery.
