The Road Trip

This summer TX★17 Curator and Artistic Director Leslie Moody Castro is going on the road. The road trip is a component of our Biennial that will be integral to the development of the curatorial process. This adventure is critical in understanding the diverse regions, artists, and institutions that represent Texas. Moody Castro will be looking at the state as a diverse place with a multitude of identities and cultures as well as a transitory, itinerant border zone within the United States.

TX★17 Partner Organizations will be crucial in making the road trip a success. This adventure is an opportunity to engage with the diverse community of artists spread across Texas and to meet the supporters of all our individual ecosystems that add to our collective identity.

Partner Organizations

The Texas Biennial is an ambitious program that is strengthened by the collaboration of our Partner Organizations and artist collectives across the state. Since 2011, when the Partner Organization program was established, organizations have scheduled special artist talks and lectures, designated works by Texas artists on display in their permanent collections, installed temporary exhibitions of work by one or more local artists, and highlighted exhibitions featuring contemporary Texas artists.
In our sixth edition, we are excited to partner with over 70 diverse, vibrant, and compelling organizations who are sharing knowledge about their places, communities, and cultures.
