CADD SUMMER BUS TOUR

CADD has been promoting the visual arts through unique programming since 2006 and the bus tours have been going strong since 2010. Bus tour participants might gain access to artist’s studios, galleries, private collections, corporate collections, art installations or other special venues!
The July 22nd CADD BUS TOUR will visit three CADD member galleries, as well as Polsinelli's art collection, and a private collection. Refreshments will be served at each gallery with a light supper served at the end of the evening in a private home. Proceeds from CADD events assists with the CADD Scholarship and CADD Educational Programs. Buy your ticket and join us!
The bus tour begins at CONDUIT GALLERY. Participants will park their cars at 5pm and proceed inside to view two exhibitions. The first is a group exhibition of works by gallery artists, including Marcelyn McNeil, Vincent Falsetta, Roberto Munguia and Jules Buck Jones. The second is a collaborative installation between James Sullivan and Hellen Ascoli exploring issues of the body, its presence and place within different societies. The original siting was an installation at Concepcion 41, in Antigua, Guatemala. It is titled, “Mi Cuerpo está aquí…..mi cuerpo no está aquí --(2)”.
Your 2nd stop is POLSINELLI. Polsinelli is an Am Law 100 firm with approximately 800 attorneys in 20 offices, serving corporations, institutions, and entrepreneurs. The firm’s national art collection embodies the energy, diversity, innovation, and forward-facing realities of the communities in which it is embedded. The 63,000 square foot Dallas office is marked by efficient design and a hospitality-driven approach that streamlines the work environment, creating a distinctive client experience and forming an elegant backdrop for the art collection. A grand staircase serves as the centerpiece of the lobby, oriented to showcase views of Dallas’ skyline, and graced by a ceramic sculpture by Lauren Mabry. Among the forty artworks displayed are works by area artists Joan Winter, Tommy Fitzpatrick, Matthew Cusick, Dornith Doherty and John Holt Smith. Holly Johnson will ably replace the firm’s curator for this tour.
Then jump on the bus to visit two CADD galleries at 1845 Levee Street.
CRIS WORLEY FINE ARTS is pleased to introduce four new artists in this summer’s exhibition, Introductions. Marc Dennis, Adrian Esparza, Sherry Owens, and Robert Sagerman display radical and unique talents in sculpture and painting. Hyper-realist artist Marc Dennis brings levity, humor and virtuosity to his sumptuous oil paintings, depicting subjects from the art historical canon infused with contemporary themes. Adrian Esparza has inspired international attention through his deconstruction of the Mexican sarape, using its colorful yarn to create large-scale geometric forms. Sherry Owens is a prominent Texas sculptor known for her exquisite sculptures made from repurposed crepe myrtle branches and bronze. Informed by his academic studies in art history and Kabbalist Mysticism, Robert Sagerman creates paintings that awe and impress with titles that correspond to the number of strokes made by the artist. Repetition as a form of meditation gives way to a mystical experience.
HOLLY JOHNSON GALLERY features two exhibitions. Michael Young: Updrafts, is an exhibition of new paintings by Austin-based artist. Young’s inspiration is drawn from a lexicon of interrelated subjects such as Mimbres pottery, tantric art, geology, seismographs, modernist and colonial architecture, stereotomy, desert landscapes, petroglyphs, Japanese pottery, Native American design languages, textiles, microphotography, bee hives and the study of pollen. Michelle Mackey: Doubletake, is an exhibition of new paintings by the Dallas/Brooklyn-based artist. Within Mackey’s art there is a palpable sense of multi-dimensionality and spatial transference — where settings and imagery fragment and converge. She uses light and its power to confuse structural logic, so that these paintings suspend between the known and the unknown.
Your final stop of the evening will be the private collection at the spectacular home of LORI and TOM REISENBICHLER. Refreshments and a light supper will be served.
BUS TOUR ITINERARY
5:00 pm Arrive promptly, park and visit Conduit Gallery at 1626 C Hi Line Drive.
5:30 pm Get on the bus and head to Polsinelli to view their art collection.
6:30 pm Visit Cris Worley Fine Arts & Holly Johnson Gallery at 1845 Levee Street.
7:15 pm Visit a Private Collection for refreshments and a light supper.
8:45 pm Return to Conduit Gallery to retrieve your car.
