The  Why: After reading the philosopher Derrida, I find myself consciously reconstructing poems and novels into mental images. Sometimes I am able  to capture those word images in abstract ink drawings. Subconsciously I  have always seen words as images, because of my dyslexia. So the conflict between image and text is my passion and my burden. The  conflict inspires creation and innovation, so through my personal  conflict I have transformed words into transcendent abstractions. The  words and letters have become something more than language, and these  words transcend their meaning. No longer recognizable metaphors for  words, the letters thus return to origins as images

Call to Artists “Breath in the Art” silent auction Fudraiser for Ashlea Chapman

This is a great opportunity for artist to get exposure on their artwork and help a great cause. We need artists who would like to enter two pieces of artwork into the “Breath in the Art” silent auction. Earnings from this auction will be donated to help aid the medical expenses of a young and vibrant 27 year old women named Ashlea Chapman. Ashlea is suffering from a rare lung disease and needs a double lung transplant to live. If you would like to help out, we are asking that you donate two pieces of artwork to the silent auction. Artist will be able to keep the earnings from one of the paintings sold and the other earnings will be donated to Ashlea’s Breath in the Art fund.

This will take place on Saturday January 22nd 2011 at the Marine Rose Theater located in historic down town Fort Worth. Art show entry requirements:
We must have two jpeg pictures of the artwork to be sent to okindian65@yahoo.com and summerhill.shawn@yahoo.com and you will be notified if your work is selected. These pics will be entered into our website to promote pre sell of tickets or option to buy art work online.
The two pieces can be any medium but no larger than 24x30 and they must be ready to hang.
Art entry deadline: Sat, Dec. 18th 2010, 3pm

Happy Friday The Gap Band - You Dropped A Bomb On Me

The Tyler Public Library will be holding an Art Exhibition and Demonstration this weekend and they are looking for volunteers.

The event is called “Art Around Every Corner” and it is a 2-day
exhibition and demonstration at the Library. They will have 14 artists
who will be set up around the Library, showing and talking about their
work.

Saturday, November 13th from 7:30 am till 5 pm
Sunday, November 14th from 11:30 am till 6 pm

The volunteer contact for this event is Ms. Evelyn McLane and she can
be reached at ejames@tylertexas.com or at
programs@tylertexas.com .  She needs volunteers to help out with
setting up, serving refreshments, directing visitors, etc. 

IMPORTANT:  Evelyn needs volunteers to contact her via email ASAP but
no later than Friday, November 12th.  They must provide her with their
names, driver's license numbers, and birthdates--she has to conduct a
standard background check on all volunteers.

Feel free to contact Evelyn if you have any questions at all!  This
sounds like a great event and a great opportunity for service!
